All About Doula's


A Doula is a woman who is experienced in childbirth and provides continuous physical and emotional support to the laboring mother.  She receives extensive training to enable her to ensure she can first, help her patient focus her emotional needs where they need to be and second, show her how to embrace the physical part of labor.  Doula's are available to all birthing patient's of the Women's Wellness & Maternity Center, whether you choose to birth at the Center of at the hospital. 

Our Nurse, Barbara Steppe, provides a workshop twice a year to train other women to become Doula's.  If you are interested in becoming a Doula, please call our Center at 423-442-6624 or
